Free drawing classes for students at Briarwood Arts Center!
As you may have read in my, August newsletter, I received a grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts in order to offer free classes for students ages 10-18 at Briarwood Arts Center.
After talking with the founder Stephen Brown, we have a schedule set for the classes. Beginning September 11th and the running the course of the month, the classes will take place on Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m. with a longer practice session on Saturdays from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The goal of the classes is to teach foundational drawing skills and principles of art while allowing the students to experiment with a variety of mediums such as graphite, ink, and oil pastels in a safe environment.
Attending all of the classes is recommended because each lesson will build on the previous. However, this isn't a requirement to join.
All materials for the class will be provided for the students.
The classes are free, but I would need participants to RSVP the name and age of their child in order to properly plan the sessions.
More details will be emailed once the RSVP is received.
